dappled porch…

So reach for my cuff… Okay, wait, what’s tight? This is tight. Heavy… heavy… heavy… heavy…

Not ‘relax’. I want you to use ‘heavy…’ because it has no meaning to you, and ‘relax’ has lots of meanings.

Heavy… heavy… heavy…

Just do as I ask if you want to learn it, because that will work. Because I understand about subconscious things. Words have riders sometimes. They have passengers. ‘Heavy’ does not have a passenger, and I can build on it.

And also too: if you’re moving, and you. think like, ‘OK I ‘m tight. What do I do right now? ‘Heavy…’

Find the tightest part, and make it heavy. Don’t give that part a job – of relaxing.

‘Heavy…’

It’s already there. Gravity is already [hits the mat] here. We use the force that is there. And the threshold point, the alchemic point, the kyo, the boiling point, all that stuff, can be worked with with this ‘heavy’ principal, in a way that will function… you’ll be able to understand and function with it in a way that’s clear. One to one function.

And that’s all we need: is to have the right method and some kind of way to experience it that makes sense.

With the heavy thing, any thing I tighten, all I do is go ‘heavy… heavy… heavy… heavy…

I get out of the way and let gravity educate my body where I need to be.

Anything that’s tight is going to block my movement.

Right now, this knee, right here, is a little tight….

My big toe just kind of went ‘woooh…’

Now I’m balanced. I go to the next place… Heavy…

When I move now….

But from here I’m totally stable.

I can move.

I can explode.

I can get into that place…. the Nara thing, right?

The whole idea of this is ‘heavy… heavy… heavy… heavy… heavy… right? And so if my hip’s a little tight, or my knee’s a little tight, instead of finding it, I just go ‘heavy….’

I let gravity inform my body and get out of the way, with any laugher or desires, and just go ‘ok, where do I feel any kind of tightness? That foot…’ Now watch.

Now watch where the power comes from.

Did I look ever like I was ever unbalanced? Because it’s an explosion of power, from that place I was showing you. And also you keep your place.

Look famiiar?

Look famiiar?

It’s Sensei’s thing, it’s what he does!

Well I’m thinking: ‘well how….? Okay.  What’s the kernel of wisdom in this? Not just copying him… What the hell’s going on there that I can use?’

Because he wasn’t going to share it…  Right… Okay…

But from there, when I move, I can absolutely just ‘heavy…heavy…heavy…heavy…’

Right.

I’m totally relaxed. And in order to move, when I fire up down here: everything stays heavy, as it’s moving…

It’s totally effortless, Peter…

I feel no effort in that motion at all.

So if I can share that part of ‘heavy…heavy…’

You can practise it in everything!
